Not for personal sake.. The DAILY TELEGRAPH newspaper in the UK says its a COUP frm the palace.... so did NEW YORK TIMES.. i think its true.. lucky its Msia. I think there will be a huge riot IF its in another country..

*Mahathir's given reasons for his resignation are too shallow and too simplistic to make any real sense. He said he thought he was getting support from "so many parties" until he was unable to decide which side to pick". What nonsense is this? With everything that has gone on over the past several years, Mahathir is unable to decide what advice makes better sense to him? His other excuse was that he was fed up with people saying that he was power-hungry and had no real intention to resign. In politics, such remarks are grist for the mill. It is beyond the pale for a seasoned politician to be making this kind of lame excuse.* *If the given reasons are not credible, what is the truth?* *I suggest his resignation is a calculated move that will see him return to power without the Anwar Ibrahim albatross around his neck. It will also enable him to pick his desired Cabinet without answerable or accountable to coalition members of Pakatan Harapan.* *In other words, he wants to be the Prime Minister in his own right and on his own terms!* *In mainstream Malaysia, there is an unspoken assumption that all important Cabinet posts should be reserved for bumiputras. None more important than the powerful post of Finance Minister. Lim Guan Eng will not be reappointed! And that is one of the greatest Malaysian tragedy typified by none other than Najib Razak, under whose reign as Finance Minister (also PM) SRC & 1MDB debacles occurred!* *That said, Mahathir is still the best person to govern. I suggest Malaysians generally accept him as the PM for as long as his health permits him to serve. UMNO and any Malay dominated party should not be allowed to form any govt. But of course, when it comes to Malaysia, that is wishful thinking.*

Mahathir resigned because PH insisted on a date to pass the baton to Anwar but Mahathir never intended to hand over the PM post to Anwar but Mahathir did promised to hand over to Anwar within two years. Mahathir already had a backup plan when he resigned thinking that he shall one again becoming the new PM in the new alliance with opposition party forming a backdoor takeover government but UMNO didn't honor their plead to join Bersatu party which belong to Mahathir making Bersatu the smallest party if Bersatu join the opposition pact PN to form the backdoor government and if so, Mahathir is definitely no longer the king maker since got play out by his formal party UMNO.

Mahathir is the one origin of the mess, and no one qualified to take over. So? The answer is we have to go back to the people, the process of which the people decide - what does the majority want? Not their leaders the people which means Sabahan and Sarawakians are the king maker - and what they want? Not UMNO, not PAS - what they want is a deal between PH and Sabahan and Sarawakians..Sorry UMNO and PAS is not in the picture is what the majority of people in this country want..

Simple if he did not resign there are too many oppositions and too little of his cronies in his coalition party to check him. If he resigned and form a new party or join an existing party that wait on him hand and feet then he can say and do what he wants and nobody can oppose or question him. Just like Singapore, North Korea or China where one party rules them all. Die die he will never let Anwar become PM. After so many years being screwed over by Dr M you think Anwar will live and let live, forgive and forget? Wait long long.

Did not these newsreaders see their own Melissa Goh's interview with Anwar aired some 4 hours before this broadcast, and hence perhaps conducted earlier than this interview with Prof James Chin as well? Anwar told Goh that Mahathir has been played by Azmin & his UMNO allies, but that Mahathir would never rule with UMNO - a necessity in any coalition without PH. That surely is the biggest question to be answered if Prof Chin's hypothesis is to hold, given he understands it's a numbers game. Agong accepted Mahathir’s resignation. Interim PM doesn’t need expressions of support. Interim gov’t can be maximum six months. Refer to Declaration of Emergency in Kelantan but that was for a Director of Operations. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Opposition doesn’t have a candidate to be PM. The Agong shall appoint an MP as Prime Minister, who in his opinion, is LIKELY to command the confidence of the majority in the Dewan Rakyat. No matter what happens, the Opposition would not form the Federal gov't. The Opposition is riddled with crooks facing numerous serious charges in court. They want to hijack the Federal gov't, hoping to escape these charges. The Agong would not be party to illegalities i.e. allowing the Opposition to form the Federal gov't. Illegalities would bring the Agong into odium, ridicule, contempt and public disrepute. Mahathir's policy of extremism will not work. The present situation -- disorientation, confusion and chaos -- is a blessing in disguise. The only predictable property of the universe is chaos. Order can only come from chaos. If no chaos, no Order. It does not matter who forms the Federal gov't in Putrajaya. What matters is a strong Opposition in Parliament i.e. the gov't must not have two thirds majority in Parliament. There's no race, religion and political party in Parliament, only lawmakers. The majority in law is the numbers on the gov't side in Parliament. The majority across the Divide in Parliament, in demography, in the streets, is not the majority in law. Sabah and Sarawak should stand united in Parliament to take the lead and form the Federal gov't with the weaker side in Malaya which is split down the middle. Agong will not accept the SDs going around. Read further here . . . Najib said Umno MPs signed SDs with conditions.
